New stainless-steel frame/grates are now available. These new grates are similar to the nickel-bronze models but are cast in 304 stainless-steel material and will have a brushed/satin finish.

A stainless-steel frame/grate is often preferred or required in food-prep areas, commercial kitchens and other high-sanitation areas—which are all typical applications for floor sinks. Stainless-steel grates are also widely used in applications where strength and corrosion-resistance are key requirements.

Stainless-steel frame/grates are available for the 12” x 12” and 8” x 8” square floor sinks, and the 12” and 8” round floor sinks. All are available in both full and open-half patterns.

Sloan has completed reverification for The Water Council’s WAVE program.

Independently awarded by SCS Global Services—an international leader in third-party sustainability verification—the WAVE program’s reverification indicates that Sloan successfully maintained its two-year verification process, which assessed water-related risks across the enterprise, identified the highest water-related impacts using credible water-related data and implemented best practices to improve water stewardship performance.

In 2022, Sloan was among the first companies to sign on to The Water Council’s WAVE program, an initiative designed to help companies improve, report and verify their water stewardship progress. Kirk Allen, Sloan’s co-president and CEO, is a longtime member of The Water Council’s Board of Directors.

“It was an honor to achieve verification from the WAVE program two years ago, while also an opportunity to continue making improvements in water-related risks across the enterprise,” said Paul Sambanis, Sloan’s vice president of sustainability. “This reverification is another important step in Sloan’s sustainability journey and will only help to further our efforts to address water challenges going forward.”

As part of the reverification process, Sloan identified additional actions and improvements to the wastewater system at its Franklin Park, Illinois, headquarters, as well as several other water stewardship initiatives including:

  • Installing submeters in areas of high-water usage
  • Ensuring all sites have up-to-date and proper documentation for environmental, water-related, and stormwater management systems
  • Participating in the WASH4WORK pledge
  • Implementing water reuse policies to reduce water consumption on site
  • Engaging in activities and working with local stakeholders to preserve and improve local water quality
  • Highlighting water reuse and other practices on its website and public platforms

Sloan concentrates its water efforts on three key areas: designing innovative and water-efficient products, monitoring and conserving water in its operations and promoting water stewardship with its stakeholders. One example of these efforts is through Sloan’s Foundry, where evaporative condenser cooling towers are installed to make use of recycled water, reclaiming approximately 18 million gallons of water each year.

The Water Council, an internationally acclaimed nonprofit dedicated to freshwater innovation, has helped companies of all sizes and industries improve water stewardship. It created the WAVE program to help businesses anywhere in the world address water on an enterprise level, moving beyond non-contextual water management targets to develop meaningful strategies, goals and actions.

In Sioux Chief’s continuing effort to expand the Specification Drainage product line and offer unique, top-quality items to plumbing contractors, the company has introduced its new water closet carrier—featuring a first-ever PVC waste fitting.

Among the many noticeable differences between this new system and the company’s existing carriers, the new carrier has been engineered with modular leg support gussets. The combination of gussets and newly designed legs allows the new carrier to provide solid installations without the need for a rear anchor in applications up to 500 pounds.

By reducing the overall weight, PVC fittings make the carriers easier to ship, handle, prefab and install. In addition, PVC material makes the fittings corrosion-resistant and impervious to sewer gases. The PVC fitting also allows for a solvent weld (glue) hub for the vent connection. Other features of this new system include a compact (width) faceplate and new coupling design, with integral gasket seal.
